The European Language Label is a European prize to encourage innovative language projects. The prize rewards creative and original initiatives to promote language education and language development in foreign languages.
The European Commission has one of its objectives to promote multilingualism among Europeans. The European Language Label was created to promote the goal of multilingualism. This prize draws attention to innovative projects. In the Netherlands, the jury and audience prizes are awarded every year at the national Living Languages study day. The prize is awarded in more than 25 countries.
The Chatmates project for newcomers of the Het Begint met Taal foundation has been chosen as winner of the audience award by the members of the Association of Living Languages. All members of the association could vote anonymously, easily and online for their favorite via Online Voting Tool using a personal voting code.
